During this interactive workshop, presented by Nancy Song, CPA at Ernst and Young, you will:
- Learn key financial terms and what they mean to you and your business (terms from the income statement and balance sheet and key metrics to asses the business, such as gross margin and burn rate)
- Understand your corporate obligations and the importance of keeping organized records
- Do’s and Don’ts for starting a business (such as bank accounts and T-slip filing obligations)
- Other topics such as GST/HST, SR&ED, Shareholder loans, etc.
At the end of the workshop participants should have exposure to basic financial concepts and corporate government obligations that will help them in accessing financing and in managing their business.
Nancy is a tax professional with experience in Canadian domestic and international corporate tax. Nancy works with both owner-manager businesses and large public companies in a number of industries to assist with tax reporting, compliance and planning strategies. Nancy hopes to combine her passion for tax and technology to provide valuable support to emerging growth start-ups. Nancy recently completed the CPA Canada Indepth Tax Program and is a graduate of the Masters of Accounting program at the University of Waterloo
