The current Canada Summer Jobs Grant applications ended on February 28th, 2020. However, many of these applicants may not have the need for summer students as they have services that may not open during Summer of 2020. Service Canada will be reviewing the existing list of businesses already approved and not being able to open due to restrictions for COVID-19. This is allowing for additional businesses to apply through their local MP’s and the application deadline is this FRIDAY, APRIL 24th, 2020.
The basic requirement is that you are an essential service and would benefit from receiving the funding from the federal government. Once Service Canada has decided on what businesses are considered essential within the current list, they will then review the businesses provided by MP’s considered essential and offer a budget to the newly added businesses.
The CSJG funding has been upgraded to 100% for up to minimum wage, however, some more technical and information based positions that will require additional per hour costs, and these can be assessed on a business by business and job by job basis.
Also, the Government of Canada announced it would commit an additional $250 million to NRC’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) Innovation Assistance Program to help support pre-revenue, start-up and scale-up companies. Applications open today, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22.
